FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I know there are so many things to consider when planning your wedding!  Find all of your Veil questions answered here, asked by many Brides like you, and more in-depth topics discussed on my Blog.

When should I order my veil?

It’s always best to order your Veil around the same time you purchase your gown so that you can see your entire look together.

Most Veils ship anywhere from 2-6 weeks, depending on the style and materials you select. I can ship certain styles sooner in case of emergency. Some custom pieces can take longer if I am sourcing new lace to match your gown perfectly. An important Note: Some Brides choose to order lace from their gown designer, and that can take up to 4 months for the lace to come in.

How do I choose the right length, color, and detail?

Do you want a long Veil or short Veil? Color is determined by your gown color, or you can choose a bold color or detail like embroidered flowers. There are so many options and I’d love to help you find your perfect Veil! Book your Consultation now.

How does my hairstyle effect my veil choice?

I’ve got great news for you, babe! You can wear your Veil with any hairstyle. The two tips for slaying your hair and veil goals are: 1. Bring your Veil to your hair trial. The ladies at Hello Lovely recommend you book your hair and makeup trial either one year in advance, or 30-40 days before the wedding. 2. Secure your Veil in your hair so it doesn’t fall out. More in-depth guidance on my blog, How should I wear my hair on my wedding day?

I don’t see what I’m looking for. How much customization do you do?

I will do my best to create the exact style you’re looking for. Other Designers offer customization to a certain extent, like giving you length, color, and detail options. I dot all of that AND also take it a step further by sourcing lace, beading and other fine details to create a truly custom piece. I will write a blog soon on What should customization look like, but for now go to Style Me to learn more about the custom experience.

What is the average cost of a wedding veil?

According to Google, the average cost of a wedding veil is around $250-$300. I’m sure you’ve done your research and found that you can get a Veil from a supplier overseas for less. The question is, what will the quality be like? Will the tulle be rough and crunchy? Will the beading or lace look cheap?

Then there’s the other range of the spectrum, where Veils can cost upwards of $2,000. I price my Veils fairly, ranging from $159-$700+. The amount of customization, quality materials, and time required to create your piece are all factored into your Veil price. During your consultation, we will talk about your budget and how I can create your perfect veil at the right price.

Should I wear a veil?

Of course my answer is YES! There are so many ways you can style your Veil to complete your look. In my 20 years of experience, I’ve met a few Brides who just don’t like Veils but still want something special like a bridal cape or headpiece. We can do that, too!

Can you wear your hair down with a veil?

Absolutely. Work with your hairstylist to create an anchor for your veil, especially for veils with more beaded detail or lace, and thus more weight. The last thing we want is for your veil to fly away in the wind! If you’re a DIY type of Bride and you’re doing your own hair, visit my Blog for more detailed instructions on how to wear your hair down with a veil.

Do brides still wear veils over the face?

Surprisingly, yes. Brides who love blushers are true romantics. Although a lot of people think blushers can be old-fashioned, there is beauty in tradition. Blushers convey elegance, grace, and help create that special moment as you are given away to your Groom. The best way to decide if you want to wear a blusher is to try one on. You’ll instantly know if it’s for you.

PRO TIP: Have your Dad or whoever is giving you away practice pulling your blusher back, and keep your Maid of Honor on watch to make sure it lays correctly once it’s pulled back.

When should the veil be removed?

You can remove your Veil whenever you want to. While most Brides remove their Veil before entering the reception or after the first dance, some Brides who are absolutely in love with their Veil (especially those with custom veils) want to wear it all night long. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to drag... I can bustle your Veil for you! Depending on your cultural traditions, you may be doing a special dance with your Veil. In some cultures, the Veil must never touch the floor.

Pro tip: Consult with your photographer on specific shots you want while wearing your Veil.

What is a Trunk Show?

A trunk show is your chance to meet with me to design your Veil and see my new collection. I’ll bring styles that the store normally doesn’t have, and make the perfect customizations. Check out my events page for upcoming Trunk Shows.
